Electric vehicles growth until 2030: Impact on the distribution network power

In the coming years, we will witness a change in current car fleet sales, from traditional fuel engines towards electrical vehicles (EVs), particularly passenger light-duty vehicles. They plug into grid and store electricity rechargeable batteries; therefore, widespread adoption of EVs bring many challenges for distribution network. Forecasting impact on networks is difficult task given uncertainty potential evolution their sales. This study forecasts sales growth 2020–2030 decade 3 possible scenarios, carried out Portuguese regional area. The demanded energy charging batteries was estimated, considering one long short route. analysis applied to three models: Nissan Leaf, Tesla Model 3, Renault Zoe. Their impacts rated power network are calculated results presented, standing insufficient at peak hours.
